Tiller steering is easy and precise. Stick forward to turn right, stick aft to turn left. The seat swivels. Just move the stick the way you swivel to turn the boat in that direction.
The Mercury control unit features standard F-N-R with electric start plus tilt & trim.
The factory deck layout was modified by moving the seat 16 inches forward. This offsets the weight of the big jack plate mounted engine, puts the consumables over the center of gravity and provides plenty of room for the angler and gear.

Two 6 gallon fuel tanks and the Igloo Ultra Cold 50 Quart Cooler are retained by bungee cords.
The clam shell seat is very comfortable. There is plenty of foot room between the seat and casting platform.

Port side controls are the tiller steering and fuel tank selector valve. Port or starboard fuel tanks can be selected underway.

Starboard side control is the Mercury control unit with tachometer. Instrumentation is a Garmin GPS 182 chart plotter and a Piranha 4 fish/depth/water temperature system.

View from Starboard.The seat hinges forward. This area is usually dedicated to a live well.
Since Black Fly is primarily a fly fisher this space is a dry area housing an electrical panel, voltmeter, engine hour gauge battery and fuel plumbing.
The electrical panel controls the navigation lights, stern light, instrumentation lights, electronics and bilge pump. The bilge pump is dual wired directly to the battery to automatically operate from a float switch or manually from the panel.
The factory does not provide for a hatch stop, a Hewes cable retainer was installed to protect the hinge.
Although not required for vessels under 16 feet, Black Fly carries a fire extinguisher and flares.

View from Port.The port-off-starboard fuel selector valve is operable while underway. Plumbing and wiring is very concealed for an open cockpit boat.
A small Tupperware container houses important papers.
The battery is a 12 volt gel cell.
